When we think of New Year’s resolutions and talk about goals of “getting organized,” we probably picture cleaning our workspace or filing away documents. This coming year, consider taking a closer look at the org chart.
No matter the size of the organization, an accurate and readily available org chart is invaluable. It provides organizational transparency, which helps build trust, and it enables employees to literally see how they fit into the “big picture,” which helps increase engagement. Moreover, knowing who’s on staff, what they do, and where they work helps facilitate collaboration among teams and even across departments. Org charts help us view an individual as the initial point of reference rather than the highest point in the formal hierarchy.
So, when was the last time you really looked at the org chart? Will 2017 be the year you finally “get organized”?
