Ultimate Software (Nasdaq: ULTI), a leading provider of human capital management (HCM) solutions in the cloud, announced today that The Taubman Company, LLC, a luxury-retail real estate leader, is using UltiPro® as part of its strategic plan to expand operations into Asia. The company is realizing operational improvements with UltiPro as its unified HCM solution, leveraging Ultimate’s partnership with Celergo to manage global payroll, and capitalizing on metrics for more informed decision-making and global reporting capabilities.
Founded in 1950, Taubman is headquartered in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and is engaged in the ownership, management, and leasing of 22 shopping centers in the U.S. and Asia. An Ultimate customer since 1998, the company launched Taubman Asia in 2005 with a Hong Kong headquarters in order to expand its operations into China and South Korea. Taubman addressed the challenge of managing a multinational workforce by uniting all of its employee data into a single system of record with UltiPro.
“When we expanded globally, it initially felt as if there were two separate companies in our structure,” said Bonnie McLean, manager of HRIT and operations at Taubman. “We didn’t want to have satellite offices, and we were looking for a solution that would unify technology and people. We found that in UltiPro. Bringing together all of our people’s information into one system has also helped unify our culture, making Taubman employees worldwide feel that they are all part of the same organization.”
With UltiPro providing a foundation for consistency and cultural alignment across the organization, Taubman is not only able to manage its workforce more effectively and efficiently, but also pay its people around the world seamlessly and accurately with UltiPro’s pre-built global payroll integration.
Ultimate’s strategic partnership with Celergo provides multinational businesses such as Taubman with a standard, bi-directional connector to quickly and easily exchange HR, pay, and compensation data between UltiPro and Celergo’s global payroll service. HR leaders can capture locally relevant employee data needed to meet compliance within UltiPro and then process payroll on a country-by-country basis through Celergo’s global payroll service.
“We realized that the opportunity to work with Ultimate and Celergo to manage and pay our global workforce made sense for our operations and growth,” said McLean. “Previously, there may have been data inconsistencies due to the lag time between a new hire coming online and our HQ-based finance team capturing that information. We saw the efficiencies in having UltiPro as one global hub with a payroll provider to serve our HR teams in Hong Kong, Korea, and China, so they could manage data directly, ensuring compliance.”
With all of its worldwide employee information now managed in UltiPro, Taubman has gained greater visibility into global workforce metrics. Through UltiPro’s cloud delivery, HR leaders can ensure that all global locations are in sync with accurate information accessible from anywhere, at any time.
“A key factor in our global growth has been the ability to have UltiPro’s powerful reporting readily available, 24-7,” noted McLean. “In the corporate office, we need to know salaries, hires, headcount, trends, and more. When HQ is literally around the world from another office, you cannot underestimate the value in having real-time reporting. UltiPro has simply made our lives better. We have greater access to all of our employees—no matter their location—and we can better manage our resources companywide.”
“With many of our customers expanding their operations around the world, we are proud that UltiPro provides a central, multinational platform for people management,” said Greg Swick, chief sales officer at Ultimate Software. “Through Ultimate’s strategic partnership with global payroll provider Celergo, UltiPro offers seamless integration and operational efficiencies to help global business leaders such as the Taubman Company achieve success.”
