7,000-Employee Vancouver-based Restaurant Chain Selects UltiPro to Unify Payroll, Simplify HR Processes

Ultimate Software (Nasdaq: ULTI), a leading provider of human capital management (HCM) solutions in the cloud, announced today that Earls Kitchen + Bar, one of North America’s most successful independent restaurant groups, has selected UltiPro® to unify its U.S. and Canadian payroll, reduce the time managers spend completing administrative tasks, and improve its companywide reporting.
Earls is a family-run business founded in 1982 and headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, with 66 locations across North America. Prior to UltiPro, Earls used multiple solutions for its employees in the United States and Canada. The restaurant chain sought to simplify its payroll processes, reduce time-consuming manual tasks, and support the company’s ongoing evolution and growth. Earls selected UltiPro in August 2015 to achieve these objectives.
As an expanding organisation, Earls chose UltiPro for recruiting, onboarding, and HR/benefits management to remove some of the manual administrative tasks required by managers so they can spend more time on the floors of the restaurants engaging with their guests and employees. UltiPro can enhance Earls’ operations not only at the restaurants, but also at the executive level. Earls’ previous systems had limited capabilities for analyzing data and generating reports. With UltiPro, Earls’ leaders can take advantage of far-reaching employee analytics and business insight.
“Our goal is to deliver the best support we can to our employees and operators,” said Jason McLean, director of technology for Earls. “We are excited to use UltiPro to drive efficiencies, strategic decision-making, and engagement.”
“UltiPro is designed to free managers from tactical and administrative tasks, and to give them the time and resources they need to concentrate on the strategic aspects of their business,” said Greg Swick, chief sales officer at Ultimate. “We are confident that Earls’ deployment of UltiPro will facilitate better employee and customer engagement, and that UltiPro Business Intelligence will play an important role in the company’s planning and growth.”
