Kettering Health Network Chief Human Resource Officer
Joan Swenson, chief human resource officer for the Kettering Health Network, has nearly 30 years’ experience in healthcare management from a variety of functions including nursing. In 1982, Joan transitioned to human resources and spent 10 years as the director of human resources for Boston Regional Medical Center while concurrently holding the position of personnel coordinator for the Atlantic Adventist Healthcare Corporation and HR consultant to the Southern New England Conference. Joan joined Kettering Medical Center in 1998 as the director of human resources, and in 2003 she became the chief human resource officer for the Kettering Health Network.
 
 
 
Mark Simpson
Texas Roadhouse Senior Director of Legendary People
As senior director of legendary people at Texas Roadhouse, Mark Simpson oversees executive and management recruiting, benefits and compensation, HR administration (HRIS/Payroll), risk management, and employee relations for the 285-unit concept. Prior to joining Texas Roadhouse, Mark was the director of human resources for Al Copeland Investments. He has also served as the regional director of human resources for Ruby Tuesday Inc. and the director of recruiting for Peasant Restaurants in Atlanta and senior management recruiter for Piccadilly Cafeterias in Baton Rouge.

Squire, Sanders & Dempsey LLP Partner
Susan DiMickele is a trial lawyer and counselor for private and public sector employers in labor, employment, contracts, collective bargaining dispute resolution and education matters. She has significant jury trial experience in employment discrimination, breach of contract, and fraud cases, including a defense verdict in a three-plaintiff age discrimination case. She litigates for employers in trial courts and before administrative agencies in matters involving wrongful termination, employment discrimination, employee benefits, trade secrets and restrictive covenants, unfair labor practices, personal injury, and wrongful death. Ms. DiMickele focuses on a variety of in-house training for employers, including EEO and diversity training, and represents employers in successful union-free campaigns. She counsels her clients in implementation of litigation-prevention strategies and compliance with all aspects of federal and state employment law.

Great American Insurance Group Divisional Assistant Vice President, Corporate Human Resources
Tom Owen joined Great American Insurance Group in 1999. As divisional assistant vice president of human resource development for the Premier Lease & Loan Services division of GAI, he had overall responsibility for human resource development policies and programs, including employee education, recruiting, retention strategies, and performance management for domestic and European employees. In 2006, Tom moved into Corporate Services as divisional assistant vice president and corporate director of performance management. Tom drives competency modeling for the enterprise and works with senior leaders, business units, and individual managers in using competency models for talent selection, learning and development, performance management, and succession management.

Duke Realty Corporation Assistant Vice President of Human Resources
As assistant vice president, Human Resources, Jenny functions as an HR business partner focused on planning, designing, and monitoring all staffing, employee relations, and training and development programs consistent with human resources and corporate objectives and strategies. Jenny collaborates with management regarding recruitment and retention, leadership development performance counseling, and strategic development programs. She also consults with and advises management on relocation and termination matters for consistency with government and corporate guidelines. Jenny joined Duke in 1996 as an employment manager and later was promoted to assistant vice president.

Cheryl Steinbacher has more than 20 years of experience in human resources, training, and organizational and leadership development. She is currently Integra Bank’s senior vice president of human resources and leadership development. She is responsible for the management and coordination of Integra’s human resources policies and programs, including compensation and benefits, employee relations, organizational development, executive and staff training, and leadership development. Prior to Integra, she was employed with Elo TouchSystems, NOVA Information Systems, and Dalen Products in Knoxville, Tennessee.
 
 
 
MeChelle Callen
Duke Realty Corporation Director of Training & Development
MeChelle Callen is the director of training and development for Duke Realty Corporation. Prior to coming to Duke in 2007 she was the director of HRD and TheWishard Institute for Employee Development at Wishard Health Services in Indianapolis. MeChelle has served as a trainer and development facilitator for several external organizations including the Indiana Nonprofit Resource Network, the United Way Nonprofit Training Center, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, and the Indiana Perinatal Nurse Leadership Association. She also served as a subject matter expert with National Resources for Education Committee for University Healthcare Consortium.
