Employment Law Update: Is Your Company Ripe for a Costly Discrimination Lawsuit? |
| Presented by: |
|
Squire, Sanders & Dempsey LLP Partner, Susan DiMickele |
| |
| |
|
Labor laws on both the state and federal levels are changing at an exceedingly rapid pace, and it’s crucial that you stay on top of new legislation and address issues quickly and correctly within your organization. During this session, an employment attorney from a global law firm will give a high-level overview of the latest labor employment changes, including a closer examination of two new areas for potential discrimination claims: association discrimination and genetic discrimination. Association discrimination protects individuals from discrimination based on their relationship with a person in a protected class, while genetic discrimination, now covered under a new federal law called the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA), protects people from unfair treatment because of their genetic predisposition to developing a disease. You will want to hear what processes you need to put in place to ensure fair treatment for both job applicants and employees.

The Value Proposition of Employee Engagement |
| Presented by: |
|
Kettering Health Network Chief Human Resource Officer, Joan G. Swenson |
| |
| |
|
Every company hopes to employ an engaged workforce dedicated to the future of the organization. And there’s a solid financial reason for it: Gallup research estimates that employees who are not fully engaged cost U.S. companies upwards of $350 billion each year in lost productivity. But how many companies currently have programs in place to ensure the satisfaction of their employees? And how does an employee’s happiness on the job align with business strategy? During this session, the chief human resource officer for a network of almost 7,000 employees will describe the ways her company moved from being reactive to proactive in terms of employee engagement, and the demonstrable difference it’s making in driving the goals of her organization. |
