WESTON, Fla., June 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ultimate Software (Nasdaq: ULTI), a leading provider of Web-based human resources, payroll, and workforce management solutions, announced today that it has been named the third best medium-sized company to work for in America. The Great Place to Work(R) Institute (GPTW), the same research and management consultancy that produces FORTUNE's "100 Best Companies to Work for" list for larger companies, ranked and selected the companies for the "Top 50 Best Small & Medium Companies to Work for in America." The rankings were announced today before an audience of more than 12,000 at the Society for Human Resource Management's (SHRM) 58th Annual Conference & Exposition in Washington, D.C. Ultimate Software was listed among 2005's Top 25 Best Medium-Sized Companies to Work for in America as well.
"Our employees are the heart and soul of our business. Having so many talented, experienced, and committed employees on our team is the driving force of our success. We are all focused on delivering the best HR, payroll, and extended workforce management products and services in the market -- and we have fun doing it," said Scott Scherr, founder, president, and CEO of Ultimate Software.
According to SHRM, the objective of the rankings is to identify companies that use smart people-management strategies to develop successful organizations with highly productive and satisfied workforces. GPTW based its rankings of the top 25 small (50-250 employees) and top 25 medium-sized (251-999 employees) companies in large part on a randomly distributed employee opinion survey, in conjunction with a management questionnaire.
Stories about the winning organizations will appear in the July issue of HR Magazine, the Society's flagship publication with a circulation of 200,000 (available at http://www.shrm.org/hrmagazine ). The winning organizations will also be listed on the GPTW Web site at http://www.greatplacetowork.com .
"Small and medium-sized companies make up the majority of the American economy and workforce," said SHRM President and CEO Susan R. Meisinger, SPHR. "These winning organizations demonstrate that making effective use of the workforce is key to their success, and they must be recognized for their accomplishments."
Great Place to Work(R) Institute cofounder Robert Levering said, "These companies stand out because their employees find them to be places where they can trust the management, have pride in their work, and have fun at work. Other companies have much to learn about how to both be productive and do right by their people."
SHRM is the world's largest association devoted to human resource management. Representing more than 200,000 individual members, the Society's mission is both to serve human resource management professionals and to advance the profession. Founded in 1948, SHRM currently has more than 500 affiliated chapters and members in more than 100 countries.
