Therma-Tru is the leading manufacturer and most preferred brand of fiberglass and steel exterior door systems in the U.S. Founded in 1962, Therma-Tru pioneered the fiberglass entry door industry, and today offers a complete portfolio of entry and patio door system solutions, including decorative glass doorlites, sidelites and transoms, and door components. Headquartered in Maumee, Ohio, Therma-Tru is part of leading consumer brands company Fortune Brands Inc.
Therma-Tru’s HR team decided it was time to update its HR and payroll processes. HR executives determined that a critical aspect of any new human resource management system (HRMS) would be the ability to simplify day-to-day processing and take advantage of integrated strategic tools for better decision-making. The team searched for an HCM vendor that could provide comprehensive functionality for human resources, payroll, benefits enrollment, recruitment, performance management, and time and attendance.
UltiPro’s feature for benefits enrollment enables associates to review, elect, and submit their benefit elections at home or in the office via the Internet without meeting with a benefits practitioner. With this Web functionality Therma-Tru’s associates can view and compare existing benefits with the costs and designs of new offerings and then make appropriate choices for the coming year.
“UltiPro’s benefits enrollment is very simple to navigate. We had many comments from our associates about how easy it is to use,” said Rhonda Francis, director of human resources and recruiting for Therma-Tru Doors.
By leveraging UltiPro’s functionality for performance management, Therma-Tru is proactively contributing to a talent strategy that is strengthening the overall business. With capabilities for online performance reviews, including 360-degree feedback and goal-setting tools, UltiPro’s performance management can help businesses better understand employee competencies, identify and reduce competency gaps, and plan for future workforce needs.
“UltiPro’s functionality for performance management is becoming a central component of our business strategy for talent management,” said Carol Summersgill, vice president of human resources for Therma-Tru Doors. “The solution is streamlining our employee review process, better identifying employee competencies, analyzing areas where we need employee development, and improving overall satisfaction.”
“Because our HR department does not have dedicated IT resources, cloud delivery is a valuable change for us. With Ultimate’s maintaining the solution, we don’t have to worry about managing upgrades or payroll tax updates,” said Summersgill. “UltiPro is a key part of a larger plan that we have in place for greater efficiencies and more reliable, consistent service to our associates. Ultimate Software’s cloud delivery gives us the full advantages of UltiPro without having to use our IT resources.”
